Starting A New Project

Client wanted to get rid of the rock walkway and replace it with a paver walkway. If a rock walkway is not done correctly, the rocks will invade the grass and is very difficult to maintain.

Excavation

Always call DigSafe first before digging to make sure there are no underground utilities.

We always excavate the area 12-18 inches to put a solid base in.

Any irrigation pipes will be staked and re-routed

Base Prep

We always use a ground stabilization fabric to separate the subsoil from the rock base.

The 3/4" rock is essential to these projects and is perfect for the New England weather. You never want to use sand for the base as that will hold all moisture in which will create movement in the patio over the years.

We compact the base and are ready to lay the pavers

Laying Pavers

All the pavers are laid down in a pattern while utilizing string lines so that everything is perfect.

We strike a line and cut in for the boarder and lay that down.

Once we have all the cuts in, we use concrete as a boarder restraint. We do not use plastic edging as New England weather will push that up and you will see the plastic.

Compaction

We compact all of the pavers down to get a nice, smooth surface and to make sure everything is level

Poly Sand

Brush in Poly Sand in-between all pavers and keep compacting every layer. This will ensure the sand fills the whole area.

When done, lightly water the patio/ walkway to harden the poly sand.

Backfill and Finish

Backfill the over dug areas with fresh loam, coat with new grass seed and the project is finished
